And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
(Galatians 5.24–26 ESV)
Paul worked hard to explain that the ones who trust in Christ for salvation have put off (crucified) the flesh with its passions and desires. As one grows in Christ, his desires will begin to change. No longer will he or she be governed by the lusts of the physical body, but will seek to bring those things under control. The gospel of Christ is all powerful - effecting not only the outward expression of a person, but also the inner qualities. The Christian is someone who makes a commitment to remain true to the principles he professes, 5:25. Old ways, old habits, old attitudes are a thing of the past. How strong is your commitment to live for Christ?
